The Lorain City
Health Department includes the following departments – Environmental Health;
Health Education; Public Health Nursing; Birth & Death Records and Public Health
Preparedness.
The following is a
list of some of the services offered in each department:
Environmental Health: inspections of food service establishments, issues
permits to all public swimming pools and spas, and helps to abate obstinate
nuisances.
Health
Education: Lorain County Tobacco Prevention Partnership, Lorain County
H.E.A.R.T. (Heart Education, Awareness, and Resource Team), and coordinates
and implements the citywide recycling program.
Public
Health Nursing: help high risk families with health and human service
needs for themselves and their families.
Birth &
Death Records: compiles vital statistics consisting of births, deaths,
stillbirths and other vital records occurring in the City of Lorain.
Public
Health Preparedness: The Health Department is a participating member of
“Learn. Prepare. Act – Helping Cleveland Through Disaster Preparedness”.
This initiative provides citizens in Northeast Ohio with useful information
on how to prepare for any type of disaster and includes up-to-date, hazard
specific safety tips and information about protection and preparedness.
