The Life Skills Center program offers youngsters who may not have done well in a traditional high school the opportunity to earn their high school diploma, At the Life Skills Center; a student will have a chance to be better prepared to enter the job force. They will also have an opportunity to pursue higher education and the life they have always dreamed they would have.
One-on-One Instruction
Students attending Life Skills receive an Individualized Academic and Career Plan that helps them achieve their goal – receiving a high school diploma. There are no traditional classes or grade levels. Each student completes coursework at his or her own pace with the help of a professional teaching staff.
Vocational Training
Life Skills employs full-time Employment Specialist who assists each student with vocational goals and career planning. Students also complete at least five hours of learning opportunities each week by working either a full or part time job, vocational training or volunteering in the community.
Flexible Class Schedule
Flexible scheduling and a shorter day help students fit schooling in to both their job and family responsibilities. Students attend one four or five hour academic session per day. During this time, students work on their individualized, interactive courses as well as attend life skill classes that include parenting skills, budgeting, job readiness and addition to other pertinent topics.
