Description:

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a program that matches children ages 6 to 14 with a caring adult friend. A “Big” is a grown-up friend that WANTS to spend time with a child. This is not a job for them and they do not get paid for providing companionship for a child. A Big Brother or Big Sister is someone a child can trust and have fun with. A child and their “Big” will share many activities together, like baking cookies, playing kickball, or helping with homework. Experiences like these will enrich their friendships and help them grow and develop into something special.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has different programs – you can choose the one that will best suit the needs of the child you know. In Lorain County, there is Lunch Buddies that allows a child’s “Big” to meet with them over lunch at school once a week. The Site Based program has the “Big” meet with their child at a neighborhood center in their area. Lastly, the Community Based program allows a child’s “Big” to pick the child up so that they can go out and do something together.
