About Training
LCCS has a multifaceted training and development program supporting the mission of the agency. Human Resources oversees training and staff development processes. Continuous training and professional development advancements must be maintained by the staff to ensure we are providing the highest quality protection, permanency and prevention services for children and families. Significant financial resources are allocated for training in each annual budget. Agency direct services personnel include case aides, case workers and their supervisors and managers. Agency non-direct services personnel include file clerks, receptionists, secretaries, data analysts, their supervisors, and some management personnel.
The agency utilizes a number of strategies to ensure the accomplishment of its training and development goals. One strategy is that the agency ensures all staff receive core competency training in their field of practice. For program staff, this is accomplished in conjunction with the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program. Initial CORE training is provided within a new employee’s first year of service, and ongoing training needs assessments (ITNA) are administered annually. For non-program staff, each employee is required to demonstrate core competency proficiencies and, if needed, training is individually tailored for the needs of each employee.
Professional Development/ Training
Our trainings are available to the public, and most trainings are held at the Spitzer Conference Center, located within Lorain County Community College.
We use a registration system called Acteva. Acteva lists all of the Professional Development Plan (PDP) trainings for your training opportunities. The trainings are free of charge and are social worker CEU eligible.
